Parkside Chesterfield is a residential scheme specifically for older people, constructed on behalf of Chesterfield Borough Council. The project was won by Franklin Ellis through a limited feasibility competition. Franklin Ellis put together the design team and acted as Lead Consultant for the duration of the project.

The development provides 22 no. two bedroom apartments for council rent, together with communal lounge and assisted bathroom. From the start, the council’s ambition was to provide accommodation to open market standards. The apartments are located on three sides of a courtyard, enclosing a generous communal garden. All apartments have a balcony or bay window and are designed using the ‘Wheelchair Housing Design Guide’.
