BIM Implementation and ISO 19650

We have been operating BIM workflows, with investment in training, management, platforms, and software since 2012. Our full staff of 30+ members are trained to work in BIM, following our accredited procedures and workflows. Having all of our staff BIM-trained increases understanding and adoption of best practice – there are no ‘CAD technicians’ in our team.

Since 2020, we have also fully embraced cloud workflows – with 100% of our projects hosted on secure servers in Autodesk’s Construction Cloud platform (ACC). We have also switched fully to cloud workstations, meaning that we’ve removed hardware from our premises, increasing security and reliability, and making us extremely agile – we can work from anywhere – home, office, site, or even on the move.

We were recently accredited by the BRE for working to Part 2 of ISO 19650 – the international standard for information management. We’ve been ‘doing BIM’ for a decade now, and every one of our projects is fully modelled, from the smallest scheme, to multi-million pound developments like the dual-brand hotel scheme pictured above. The development is an excellent example of how the use of BIM increases efficiency, this particular project was delivered on budget and ahead of programme.

Integration of the construction model and the specification is essential to avoid conflicting information. All our projects use NBS Chorus integration to deliver NBS-quality specification clauses linked to our model objects. The NBS have highlighted our work and our pioneering partnerships with industry suppliers to collaborate on project specifications.

Investment in staff training pays dividends in efficiency, and we have an unrivalled programme of ongoing BIM training. Much of our training is delivered in-house, from our ‘Digital Design Team’ group, but we also partner with industry leaders Symetri to deliver external training in full-staff sessions on a frequent basis. By staying ahead of the curve, we are able to offer clients a cutting-edge service.

We are recognised as frontrunners in BIM and have been consulted by major UK suppliers on their own BIM transitions. We’re involved in various beta programmes for platform and software development and we contribute to the standards development processes.

Through our partnership with Symetri we are able to offer additional services to complement our in-house capabilities. We offer BIM Consultancy, Information Management (IM) and training services to our clients and fellow professionals.
