Franklin Ellis were appointed as Architects and Interior Designers by Castlebridge Group to design a new build four-star 75 key IHG Indigo Hotel in the heart of Chester city centre.

Our brief was to maximize the guestroom accommodation on a very tight site footprint and incorporate a WOOD signature restaurant. Located in a conservation area and adjacent to several listed buildings including a Church, the hotel design had to be sympathetic in scale and detailing with its surroundings whilst delivering a modern bespoke building. The interior design concept aims to tell the neighbourhood story capturing the rich and varied history of Chester and embracing the special qualities that endear the city to it’s local and global audience.

We have provided three different guestroom design narratives each drawing inspiration from the remarkable surroundings including the historical Chester Rows, the “Roodee” which is the oldest racecourse in England and the famous Eastgate Clock.

The guestroom design phrasing has been woven through the reception, bar and signature WOOD restaurant which provides 95 covers, a private dining room and an open cooking area showcasing the talents of Simon Wood, winner of Master Chef 2015.
