Exciting News: Uplifting Derby’s Historic Cathedral Quarter

As Architects dedicated to transforming cityscapes, we’re delighted to present our vision for “Cathedral One,” a residential development designed in collaboration with Wavensmere Homes. This project, set to revitalize Derby’s iconic Cathedral Quarter, features 186 one- and two-bedroom apartments and promises to redefine the city’s skyline.

Cathedral One will see the transformation of a once-vacant 0.2Ha site in Derby. Our design centers around a u-shaped red brick building that gracefully rises to nine stories, harmonising with the city’s rich heritage. This site, previously home to a 1960s police station, will soon become a new landmark in Derby City Centre.

The project includes 2,000 sq ft of mixed-use space on the ground level, housing a café, gymnasium, co-working area, and a concierge point, fostering a lively community atmosphere.

Cathedral One prioritizes sustainability. It incorporates green energy features and modern construction techniques, aiming for a high EPC rating that surpasses building regulations. Solar PV panels on the roof will generate renewable energy, making it an environmentally conscious living choice.

Derby’s growth is evident through projects like the Nightingale Quarter and plans for the historic Friar Gate Goods Yard and Cathedral One forms an important part of the broader exciting changes in Derby.

Nestled beside the historic Derby Cathedral and the Museum of Making at the restored Derby Silk Mill, Cathedral One enjoys a unique waterside location. Our design aims to breathe new life into the Cathedral Quarter, enriching Full Street, and creating a vibrant community environment.
