We are proud to announce that iHub Derby, which was designed by Franklin Ellis Architects, won the coveted Design Excellence Award at the East Midlands Property Dinner which took place on 7th September, as well as being shortlisted for a further two awards.
The 45,000 sq ft iHub, which is part of Infinity Park in Derby, was designed to provide 18 office work-spaces and 14 ground floor workshops for businesses seeking a more hybrid working environment.
The design of the building, which expresses the characteristics of trains, planes and automobiles was designed in line with the transport, engineering and high-tech business who reside in the building. From the outset we wanted to create an iconic building that would be a beacon at the centre of Infinity Park and would communicate the innovation and talent within the new work spaces.
Judges of the award were impressed that the finished project stuck to the original concept, including a number of complex elements and thought this was a testament to the strength of the design.
This is an innovative and impressive building that we took great pleasure in delivering. The dynamic design was created to deliver hi-end spec, on budget and with a low carbon impact.
Franklin Ellis would like to thank our clients Derby City Council and G.F. Tomlinson Building Ltd. for working with us on this award-winning project.
