Royal Opening For Hospice Extension

November 25th, 2011

HRH The Duchess of Gloucester delighted patients, volunteers and staff when she arrived to officially open the new extended facilities at Nottinghamshire Hospice on Woodborough Road on Wednesday 2nd November by unveiling a commemorative plaque. The Duchess took time to tour the new facilities, designed by Franklin Ellis Architects, and to speak with patients and staff in daycare.

With the assistance of Franklin Ellis, Nottinghamshire Hospice secured a major capital grant of £924,116 from the Department of Health in March 2010 to extend and improve its daycare facility on Woodborough Road. The grant has enabled the patients to benefit from new therapy and physiotherapy rooms, specialist bathrooms, a dedicated quiet/faith room, extended dining facilities and also equipped the kitchen facilities to meet the cultural and complex needs of the patients.
