FEA were honoured to receive a Commendation in the RIBA East Midlands Awards for Architecture at an awards ceremony in Leicester last month. Jon Crabb and Derek Francis collected the award on behalf of the project team for The Harper Music School and Sports Hall. The music school, completed in 2010 for Lincoln Minster School and The United Church Schools Trust, provides a building designed to provide state of the art facilities for the teaching and performance of music in the heart of the city. A recital hall for acoustic performance is the focus of the music school with specialised practice rooms and classrooms on the upper floors. A full height atrium rises through the building flooding the deep plan building with natural light, providing a focus for student interaction and acts to separate the very different requirements of a the music school and sports hall.
