Code 5 Housing

October 17th, 2011

Franklin Ellis Architects’ first Code 5 sustainable housing development was opened recently at Whiteford Drive in Kettering. The scheme consists of sixteen houses and two bungalows for affordable rent and was constructed over three sites on land  used previously as garages and redundant allotments.

The new homes benefit from photovoltaic solar panels, mechanical heat recovery systems, rainwater harvesting, high levels of insulation, low energy light fittings and water saving devices, resulting in substantial reduction in carbon emissions and lower energy bills for residents.  The contract value is £2.2 million.
